סִירָה, סִירָאI f. (b. h. סִיר; סוּר, v. סרי) 1) (degenerate growth, thorn, thorn-bush. Bekh.37b; Shebu.4b, a. e. הסול והס׳ a prick or a thorn, v. סוֹל. Ker.III, 8 (15b) תוחבו בס׳ pins it with a thorn (to a stationary object). Lev. R. s. 26; Y.Peah I, 16a bot.; Midr. Till. To Ps. 7, a. e., v. עָדָה I. Snh.49a בור וס׳ גרמווכ׳ well and thorn were the cause of Abners death (i. e. when David had taken Sauls pitcher and spear, Abner said that the lads had left them at the well, and when the lap of Sauls cloak was shown in Davids hand, Abner said, it was caught in a thornbush); a. fr.Pl. סִירוֹת, סִירָאוֹת.
